Something interesting that took my little bonce a while to get it’s head round. This doesn’t seem to be discussed that much so here’s a little ramble about it:

PCO = Poly cystic ovaries = ovaries that have multiple benign cysts.

PCOS = Poly cystic ovarian syndrome = ‘syndrome’ means a collection…

Thanks to OvercomingPCOS for writing this. It’s so true. I have had a number of friends over the years telling me they have been diagnosed with PCOS and then 6 months later they’re “cured”. What they actually had was PCO and not the syndrome. PCOS is more than just cysts on the ovaries, in fact the cysts are a symptom of the hormone imbalances in the endocrine system not the cause of the problem.
